Our Approach
We
practise proven approach while assessing the clients requirements,
documenting every project specification and delivering to the
highest set standards.
The key success factors, we feel, to any software development
or website development/ marketing initiative is in the definition of the system specification; the
planning of the project and the execution and monitoring of that
project.
We are value driven as we feel
that businesses today must work more closely and honestly with
customers and suppliers to earn and build trust.
Our software and web design process keeps the client fully in
control - with the number of concept designs and iterations of
rework agreed in advance. Our web design and development
process can be seen here,
and you may also wish to view some of our
website
design and development examples and read about our
technologies.
We use Agile software development
method, dividing the project into iterations. Each iteration is an
entire software project: including planning, requirements analysis,
design, coding, testing, and documentation. At the end of each
iteration, we re-evaluate project priorities, improving the overall
quality and delivering effective product
Technology used:
SDS utilize
n-tier approach to web site and software development. It is an industry
standard method of isolating the three separate logics (database,
business, and presentation) so that each solution not only meets
current business needs, but can be easily modified to meet future
demands as well.
We choose the technology based on your requirement and Budget. You
can also suggest us the technology in which you want us to develop.
We keep the clients requirements in our minds, use proper
development tools, testing tools and source control tools.
In almost every instance our
clients face unique requirements and challenges, which is why at SDS
we handle each enquiry on a one to one basis rather than trying to
match your requirement to fit a "standard" solution.
Every successful project depends upon choosing the correct
technologies. Making the right choice allows your project to be
completed quickly and cost-effectively. Choice of technology is
usually based on: existing IT infrastructure, existing in-house
skills, scalability required, durability of the finished solution,
budget, build time available. |
A brief of Web Design:
Web Design
Website development start with
web design. At this stage, the objective is create a website design
which is visually appealing. At SDS, once we have created a layout
our job has just started. For a successful website, the following
criteria should be met:
Clarity on what the company
has to offer
The site's navigation needs to be flawless and user friendly
Highlights need to be visible
Contact points should be visible clearly
Content should be crisp and easily readable
Many websites are very poorly designed, lack imagination or
development ability. Hence, the websites should not look
monotonous, a simple solution to this problem is to build sub
pages with different layout. These can make your website
interesting, and not too different from one another, so as not to
confuse potential customers.
Web Development
Web development is
broadly categorized into:
front-end development
back-end development
The front end means, what the end user actually gets to see. So
it is the physical layout of the website. The people involved with
the front end usually deal with the web design and scripting of the
website. There are many scripting languages which can be used
to design a website like asp, php, .net etc.
The term back-end is usually synonymous to Database development.
Hence the people involved with the back-end generally have no
artistic ability. Back-end developers usually design the database
and integrate it to the front-end of the website.
After the design/layout is finalised, front-end team converts it
into HTML and CSS. Most web developers use a WYSIWYG editor
to put the website into HTML. The web page should be neat and
clean, and should not have the following:
* Bulky code, which is difficult to update and maintain
* Pages not optimized for search engine's
* numerous coding errors, which can cause cross-browser
incompatibility and confuse search engines
At SDS every single page is hand-coded using scaleable, keyword-rich
HTML. The end result is:
* Code is clean & minimal
* Easy navigation for search engines spiders
* HTML is cross browser compatible
* HTML and CSS is provided free of errors
After the website is converted into HTML, the next stage is
to enhance the user interface. This consists of menu and other
advanced features for the website.
After the front-end development is completed, the website is handed
over to a back-end developer. At this stage all the 'behind the
scenes' work goes on. The layout of the website is given
functionality by attaching it to the database through scripting
languages.
We use a modular and
object-orientated programming approach. While we create backend for
the website, we always keep in mind the extensibility and
flexibility of the website. We avoid creating anything that uses
systems or pre-built packages; as they are inflexible, difficult to
maintain.
Search Engine Optimisation
This is the last bit in web
development, but none the less most important! Your site may be the
best looking, but if it not properly ranked on search engines it is
worthless. These days, almost all web development company offer
search engine optimisation (SEO), but how many of them could get you
to "page one" of Google? At SDS, we give you results and can get you
on "page one" of Google for relevant key phrases, without charging
anything until we have done so.
